2024 Historic Preservation Award Winners
Thank you all who attended the Historic Preservation Award Ceremony last week. We had an excellent turn out as we celebrated the award winners. The 2024 Historic Preservation Award Winners are:
Richard Brown - Preservation Craft Award which pays tribute to a skilled member of the building arts and trades such as a designer, architect, artist, carpenter, plasterer, metalworker and more. This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to historic preservation over time and through various projects. It honors their knowledge and awareness of history, historical styles, and contexts. The award celebrates how the beauty and relevance of a structure or object can be extended with thoughtful and appropriate application of materials and techniques, giving it new life.
Mountain Time Arts Revitalise/Relatives Art Installation - Cultural Heritage Award which honors individuals, organizations, or sites that have contributed to the preservation and promotion of the diverse cultural heritage of the Greater Gallatin "Valley of Flowers" area. It can be both tangible cultural heritage such as buildings, monuments, landscapes, books, food, arts and intangible cultural heritage such as storytelling, oral histories, language, traditions. It aims to highlight the culture and heritage of traditionally underrecognized individuals and communities.
I-Ho Pomeroy - Preservation Stewardship and Leadership Award which recognizes an individual, group, agency, non-profit or business that has a positive impact on historic preservation and/ or on Bozeman’s cultural heritage. This can be a project or activity designed to empower and educate the community at large and can include campaigns, fundraising, research and construction.
Bozeman Tree Coalition - Landscape Stewardship Award which recognizes a project or group that promotes the rich legacy of cultural landscapes. This can include projects that enhance landscaping, streetscapes, parks or open space, or trees through preservation, restoration, or new design that enhances the historic fabric of the community. Projects that promote sustainability and water conservation techniques while respecting the context of the area are also eligible. It can also be an individual or group that promotes the stewardship of significant landscapes through research, planning, maintenance, training, and education.
520 S. Grand - Residential Award which recognizes a project that embodies excellence through maintenance, stabilization, repair, planning, restoration, rehabilitation, stewardship, or adaptive reuse of our built environment.
510 W. Story - Residential Award which recognizes a residential project that embodies excellence through maintenance, stabilization, repair, planning, restoration, rehabilitation, stewardship, or adaptive reuse of our built environment.
The Commercial National Bank - Commercial Award which recognizes a commercial project that embodies excellence through maintenance, stabilization, repair, planning, restoration, rehabilitation, stewardship, or adaptive reuse of our built environment.

Historic Preservation Month is recognized and celebrated by the Historic Preservation Advisory Board every May. Be on the lookout next year for events and a call for nominations.
