Jumping into Phase 2!
Happy Summer!
We are excited to share that City staff and the consultant team officially kicked off Phase 2 of the project this week, moving forward with implementing the recommendations outlined in the Phase 1 Report. While the majority of the report received strong support by the Historic Preservation Advisory Board, Community Development Board, and was formally adopted by the City Commission on Tuesday, May 13, a few changes were made to the original draft. These include:
- Moving the NCOD boundary change to a future recommendation, and
- Incorporating the update to the Design Guidelines into Phase 2 of this project.
What's next?
The project team will begin drafting amendments to:
- Section 38.340, Overlay District Standards;
- Section 38.220.090, Certificate of Appropriateness; additional application requirements, review procedures, and review criteria;
- Chapter 2, Article 5, Division 6 - Historic Preservation Advisory Board roles and duties; and
- Bozeman Guidelines for Historic Preservation and Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District
We'll be sharing a detailed schedule and more information on how to participate in community engagement opportunities as soon as they are finalized.
In the meantime, we encourage you to review the adopted Phase 1 Report and Appendices.

Thank you for your contribution!
