Help us name the new parks in the Blackwood Groves Subdivision!

The first of several new parks within the neighborhood will begin construction in 2022. The Parks and Recreation Department, together with the project developers, would like your ideas for naming them. All finalists will win a prize including Parks and Recreation gift certificates and gift cards to local businesses!

Park naming themes:
All ideas should meet one or more of the following themes, based on the City of Bozeman Park-naming Policy, and should express the character of our community and the neighborhood:

  • Neighborhood, geographic, or common usage identification
  • Adjoining subdivision, street, school, or natural feature
  • Other natural or geological features
  • An outstanding feature of the facility
  • An historical figure, place, event or other instance of historical or cultural significance
  • An individual, family or organization that has performed extraordinary or outstanding public service for the good of the community, particularly in regard to parks, trails, and/or open space; or was an outstanding community leader who made significant civic contributions to the City and/or gave highly productive support to the Parks Department; or was an outstanding regional or statewide leader who contributed significantly to the promotion of parks and recreation and/or land conservation (families and individuals will be contacted, if relevant)

Project details for naming inspiration:
The project includes over 21.75 acres of parks and open spaces. The 18.34-acres of public park space includes a mix of larger neighborhood parks and smaller linear parks. The neighborhood parks, highlighted by the 7.50-acre main park in the east side of the development, will feature active and passive recreation areas including playgrounds, pavilions, trails, manicured lawns, wetlands/ponds, sled hills and other major park amenities. The linear parks, designed to link neighborhoods to the neighborhood parks and neighborhood core, will also provide amenities, play spaces, and unique experiences including mini pump tracks for bikes, nature-play areas, scavenger hunts, and exercise fitness stations.
