The City of Bozeman has maintained a Historic Preservation Program since the 1990s, which led to the creation of the Neighborhood Conservation Overlay District and the policies detailed in the Unified Development Code (UDC). Our focus with the Bozeman Landmark Program centers on revising the existing preservation policy and crafting a local landmark program. Our primary objective with this engagement effort is to involve the community in enhancing the preservation program that places a strong emphasis on people-centric preservation and intangible heritage.
Our specific focus areas encompass:
Defining the concept of preservation and heritage within the context of Bozeman.
Promoting inclusivity within our preservation efforts.
Adapting our policies to changing circumstances.
Ensuring that preservation can act as a resource in our growing community.
Providing support for community members engaged in preservation projects and activities.

We're eagerly looking forward to the commencement of this project. The Community Planning Collaborative team is scheduled to visit Bozeman from November 14 to November 16. In addition to providing them with a comprehensive tour of our delightful community, they will also participate in a meeting with the Historic Preservation Advisory Board on Wednesday, November 15, at 6:00pm. The meeting will take place in the City Commission chambers at City Hall. We extend a warm invitation to the public to attend this meeting and gain deeper insights into the project's scope.
